The Role of Family Support in Recovery

The Initiative for Cognitive Therapies and Mental Health (ICTMH) organized a mental health training titled “The Role of Family Support in Recovery” on November 7, 2025. The session was facilitated by Reverend Father (Dr.) Okoli Paul Chibuike.

The training explored the importance of family involvement in supporting individuals experiencing mental health challenges and navigating the recovery process. It highlighted how love, understanding, encouragement, and emotional support from family members can contribute to improved well-being and recovery outcomes.

Participants were encouraged to foster open communication, reduce stigma within the family, and create supportive home environments where individuals feel safe to express their emotions and seek professional help when necessary.

Through this training, ICTMH reaffirmed its commitment to promoting mental health awareness and emphasizing the importance of strong family support systems in fostering healing, resilience, and long-term mental well-being.
