The Initiative for Cognitive Therapies and Mental Health (ICTMH) hosted a mental health training titled Understanding Attachments: The Doorway to Adult Healing (Part 1), facilitated by Dr. David Thompson. The session explored attachment styles and how early childhood experiences and relationships with caregivers can influence emotional well-being, self-perception, and relationship patterns in adulthood.

Participants gained insights into different attachment styles, including secure, anxious, avoidant, and disorganized attachment, and how these patterns may affect trust, communication, intimacy, and emotional regulation in adult relationships. The training also highlighted how unresolved childhood experiences can contribute to recurring relationship difficulties and emotional distress.

The session emphasized the importance of self-awareness, recognizing unhealthy relationship patterns, and developing healthier emotional connections. Participants were encouraged to view understanding their attachment styles as an important step towards healing, building secure relationships, and achieving lasting emotional well-being.
