A Message from the President of The Initiative for Cognitive Therapies and Mental Health (ICTMH)

As I reflect on the past year, I’m reminded of the complexities of life and the importance of prioritizing our mental well-being. The start of a new year often brings a mix of emotions – excitement for new possibilities, yet anxiety about the unknown.

For many of us, the New Year is a time for reflection and goal-setting. However, I’ve learned that it’s equally crucial to focus on our mental health. The pressure to make drastic changes or set unrealistic resolutions can be overwhelming, leading us to feel like we need to be “new and improved” by January 1st.

But what if we shifted our mindset? Instead of striving for grand transformations, let’s prioritize small, sustainable changes that nurture our mental well-being. This means setting intentions rather than resolutions, focusing on self-care practices that bring us joy, and being kinder to ourselves.

As we embark on this new year, I encourage you to join me in prioritizing mental health. Let’s make self-care a non-negotiable part of our daily lives, focusing on progress rather than perfection. Celebrate the small wins, and remember that every day is a fresh start.

At ICTMH, we care deeply about your mental health and well-being. We’re committed to supporting you every step of the way.

Wishing you a peaceful and fulfilling New Year.

Sincerely,
Stephanie Okolo
President, ICTMH
